How do I connect my Xbox 360 and my cable tv to my home theatre system?

I just got a new home theatre system and have been trying to connect my tv and xbox, I have cox digital cable and i run my sound for the cable through the cable box, and now don’t know how to make the xbox run through the home theatre system also. If it helps any my cable tv is component 1 on my tv and the xbox is on component 2

    Home Theater systems, unlike AV receivers, don’t have that many options/ports.

    You need to connect the optical (or coax) output from the xbox360 or the set-top box to the digital audio input in your HT. If it exists, it is called AUX input. Then on the HT, select AUX as your input.

    Most home theater systems have multiple a/v inputs. My Onkio does and I just ran the red & white audio cables from xbox to any avail. red & white audio input and then select that corresponding input on the home theater receiver.

    Depends which inputs & outputs on your receiver. Here’s what I had to do:
    Since the xbox cables are short I couldn’t send the video to the tv and the audio to the receiver. So I connected video & audio to a receiver input then connected another set of component cables from the receiver to the tv.
